I have an urgent backfill opening for a SQL Server DBA in D.C. Please let me know if you are interested in the below position ASAP.
 
Title: SQL Server DBA
Location: Washington, D.C.
Duration: 6 month contract
Rate: $44 hr ctc
Interview Process: phone screen + in-person interview
 
Specific Requirements
*5 – 7 years relevant experience as a DBA in MS SQL Server systems on Windows 2003 clustered platform
*MS SQL Server DBA 2008 certification is a plus
*Proficient in installing and maintain SQL Server clusters for high availability.
*Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2003 and Window Server 2008 operating system environments
*Manage MS SQL Server clusters with good understanding of underlying windows cluster technology
*Tune database configuration for optimal system performance.
*Ensure proper setting of system memory and system parameters in consultation with windows  administrators
*Tune database parameters for optimal system performance.
 
MS SQL Database Administration Tasks (General Description):
*Install, configure and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 in Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 server environment.
*Tune database configuration for optimal system performance.
*Ensure proper setting of system memory and system parameters in consultation with windows  administrators
*Strong production experience in managing MS SQL Server clustered environment for mission critical systems
*Create and maintain application databases with optimal data file and log file sizes
*Aid developers in detecting performance problems including analysis of SQL, Transact-SQL, OLEDB and ODBC connections.
*Provide continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, historical and real time performance monitoring of the MS SQL Server environments.
*Provide backup and restore functions for MS SQL Server databases
*Develop and maintain DBA scripts supporting the database function using Windows Power Shell scripts
*Periodically refresh development and test databases using copy of production system
*Participate in On Call weekly shift supporting off hours and weekend activity. This is rotating assignment shared with other members of the team as necessary
*Manage the setup of MS SQL Server databases at Business Continuity site
*Configure and manage the database systems as per security guidelines and industry best practices such as SOX, HIPAA, and PCI
*Follow ITIL process in the system administration and need to be familiar with ISO 20000 and ISO 24001 processes
*Maintain highly available SQL Server databases using SQL Database Mirroring Technology
*Maintain highly secure SQL Server databases using SQL Transparent Data Encryption, SQL Line Encryption, and enhanced SQL Server auditing features
*Strong backup and recovery experience in SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2
*SQL Server deployment in SharePoint environment is a big plus
*Cloud deployment experience in Microsoft Azure is a big plus
