Investment in college infrastructure is like a creamy layer on the cake. Cake has to be good basically and creamy layer definitely adds to the cakes taste.
Similarly for s college, institution curriculum must be in tune with the requirements of the industry and society and you must have committed and passionate faculty who will mould the students to be responsible and good citizens of tomorrow.
Sometime back one B School's Director was on our campus to oversee the the selection process. When one of my colleague asked him on as to how he would like his b school is to be known. Pat came the reply that through his students.
So you need to have good students and to train them good and committed teachers. Infrastructure does add value but on its own doesn't create value.

The students like to join college with facilities indoor and outdoor games. I some cases, it become a status symbol and in other cases , games help them to do away with stresses and monotonous life in books. If these enhances , the learning capability of students , it is acceptable. A study should be done to see the effect of these facilities on students' performance before convincingly commenting against them.

Though a teacher looks this as a wastage or of least importance... But this is the eye catcher and the biggest satisfier from the student view ( who are in the age group of teens and early twenties) and obviously students force their parents to get them admitted in those institutes and so colleges win in making money... Their investments are having good returns. This is the reason why even colleges are not bothered about recruiting best teachers as they are convinced that the students join the institute as they have best infrastructure.

Warm regards, Balaji rao Take a look what happened to News Paper Industry? Massive investment on land, plant and other assets may not be fetching return as envisaged one decade ago. Same may be case for Colleges investing huge amount to develop physical Infrastructure.
