Requirements:

The Position

The Sr. Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for provisioning, installation and configuration, operation and maintenance of Corporate IT systems and related infrastructure. This position is responsible for system integrity, adherence to organizational SLA values, usability and business continuity planning. Regular projects include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development, technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and deployment. 

This position will collaborate with the Technical Operations teams on various issues, with a primary focus on Corporate IT and Helpdesk.

 

 General Responsibilities

  • Engineering technical solutions for various project and operational needs
  • Install new and rebuild existing servers and hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in both physical premise and AWS virtual environments
  • Configure, install and monitor systems that support Sun Gevity infrastructure applications
  • Daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions and adherence to best practices
  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration. Identify processes that leverage our existing resources
  • Perform backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
  • Manage user authentication according to established best practice
  • Repair and recover hardware or software failures
  • Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis. Upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure new services as necessary
  • Maintain operational and configuration procedures
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning and resource optimization as required
  • Support the Desktop Support Team at large by infrastructure or automation
  • 24/7 on-call support

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5  + years of experience in systems administration on Windows platforms for large-scale, mission-critical applications
  • Strong Active Directory/LDAP troubleshooting skills
  • PowerShell/WMI scripting and automation skillset
  • Solid foundation in 2008 AD/FSMO monitoring, replication and Kerberos authentication
  • Hands-on experience with Sites, cross-platform SSO, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and WDS deployment
  • Knowledge of load-balanced print spooling services
  • Experience with Crash plan backup and recovery applications/procedures
  • Experience with JAMF management for Mac
  • Project management skills 
  • Proven successful experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Must have strong analytical and design skills, planning and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written e-correspondence and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, organized and able to work well both independently and in a team-environment, with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Whatever-it-takes/can-do attitude

 

Highly Desired

  • Bachelor's Degree or 7+ years in a Systems Engineering role
  • Google Apps administration experience
  • PKI infrastructure for laptop and network drive encryption
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services environment
  • Windows Certification: MCITP-EA, MCTIP-SA
  • Knowledge of network connectivity issues
  • Knowledge of mail routing and web services
  • VMware ESX server knowledge
  • OKTA Single Sign On solution deployment
