Re: [MTC Global] You wouldn't waarent an unqualified doctor or lawyer . so why are untrained teachers ok?

There are certain basic issues involved in teaching at various levels, primary to tertiary. We need to
differentiate among the educational professionals like teachers (up-to secondary level), AP, Associate
Professor, Professor and Senior Professors (tertiary education), excluding such designations as trainers and
coach. Teachers at tertiary level are termed as faculty as appointments are done as per faculty like faculty
of management.

Faculty concept leads to specialization or super-specialization. To train them in the subject domain is
possible up to the level of AP or Associate Professor. Teaching skills can be imparted to a certain extent
limited to up to AP level. By the time one reaches to the level of Associate Professor training proves
ineffective. How can a PhD professor be trained in his/her domain knowledge? If s/he lacks say some teaching
skills say good communication, is it going to affect his/her students who are mainly working in advanced
areas?

There are some self-esteemed professors who claim that how can one train me? I am a professor and can train
others! In the age of e-information, today's professors like that of the past need to be knowledge
treasures. But this hardly happens because of two reasons: there is no pre-service and in service training
at lower cadres and selection process for higher level is faulty that allows less capable persons to assume
higher posts.

Professor to me is a self-propelled (fueled) missile. Professor is to kindle his students, show them just a
path and let them move independently on the path of knowledge while professor is fully engrossed in his
subject doing innovating research. We need to create such great professors. In Japan, the word of a
professor (who has put in more than 25 years in developing a subject) is assumed to be authentic and final
at a point of time.

Though one can show some common factors or KPIs in case of such professors, they largly differ in their
style and education (not teaching) philosophy. This style of professing, that is beyond training, makes them
real professors!
