Job Description – Senior Firewall/IDS Network Security Engineering
Responsibilities:
This individual will be working in a high availability environment securing a large network and ideally should have experience with Service Provider environments. This candidate will be responsible for testing, configuring and implementing Firewall and IDS/IPS infrastructure maintenance and new service change requests. Responsibilities will include collaborating with business users and X1 Engineering to gather requirements, create technical specifications and implement those specifications to secure the network. Daily tasks may include incident response, monitoring, investigation, project implementation, as well as basic operational support.
Will function in a lead capacity within department and represent department in workflow, escalation discussions. Provides expert technical advice and counsel to management and to less experienced systems analysts. Assesses change implementation options, benefits and risks, and determines the most appropriate solution. Provides guidance in predicting and monitoring performance and capacity and addressing security related issues.
- Strong experience managing and maintaining enterprise class Check Point and Juniper Firewalls.
- Strong experience with management and support of Cisco Sourcefire IDS.
- Knowledge of routing, NAT's and various network protocols including TCP, UDP, ESP and IP.
- Regularly perform risk assessment and delivery of specific technical solutions for change requests.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical abilities including packet capture analysis.
- Technical problem solving across multiple technologies.
- Ability to deal with changing priorities and multi-task several projects.
Following experience preferred:
- Firewall (Checkpoint/Juniper SRX).
- IDS/IPS (Cisco Sourcefire).
- Pen Testing (Nessus, various open source tools).
- Various versions of Linux/Unix and Microsoft systems.
- Network Routing, Switching, and load balancing devices.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent training and experience; Graduate degree preferred
Approximately 8-9 years experience in field
Preferable Certifications for Sr. Network Security Engineer Position:
- CCSA/CCSE
- JNCIS-SEC/JNCIS-FWV
- SFCE
- CCNA/CCNP
Additional Requirements:
