Literature review is both an art and science.
In ancient times, for any philosophical or scientific debate between two rishis, the set process was to go first for "Purvapaksha" followed by "Uttarpaksha" Purapaksha means in-depth insight and exposure to wide variety of literature, etc.. As I know this practice was followed by Adi Shakaracharya and continued till the fag end of Peshava regime in India,
In the present age of cut-n-paste your sharing is very valuable.
While in IIT, Kharagpur during 1982-85, in the first 6 months I collected over 3600 references that still has been helping me. My take is all PhD holders must be strong in literature review and of course in its presentation. And believe in me such personnel can swim in any area known or unknown to them for their cult of scientific way of literature search, collection, etc. helps them greatly.,
Your sharing is therefore invaluable to know the importance of literature review, the very foundation of research.
