The Software Planning Team within the Software Planning Organization at Charter Communication is 

seeking a resource to help assist with the future development of the JIRA SPORT tool. (Software 

Planning Org Reporting Tool) The SPORT tool manages the entire portfolio of projects that require (to 

any extend) SE resources. Today, it captures (through intake) the various projects we have on deck, 

what resources they are assigned, level of effort estimates for these projects, and other important 

project data. The goal is to evolve the tool that so that continues to tell the story through the entire 

SDLC, further adding value to SE as a whole. There are numerous feature enhancements including time 

tracking, status reporting for projects in flight, resource management, portfolio management 

enhancements, etc. Once the enhancements are implemented and we have all SE resources using the 

tool regularly, the end goal is to populate KPIs and key metrics on the numerous TV monitors that we 

already have available in the building.

Skills / Abilities and Knowledge

· 2+ years JIRA Administrator with experience customizing JIRA projects with various schemas, 

complex workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, and notification schemes (MUST)

· Ability to write Java and Java Script for custom JIRA development work (MUST)

· Ability to write custom JQL (Jira Query Language) (MUST)

· Integration experience on JIRA with Confluence with plugins and development (MUST)

· Ability to construct custom dashboards using various filter types in JIRA (MUST)

· Ability to integrate JIRA projects with Confluence Pages and construct Confluence pages (MUST)

· Ability to utilize Confluence as a presentation layer for reporting and dashboard needs and or a 

third party plugin (TBD) for advanced reporting's on data that is captured in JIRA (MUST)

· Ability to get Confluence or third party plugin reporting (various reports) populated on 

numerous TVs for real time reporting to local and remote located teams (Preferred)

· Experience in performing Atlassian installations, migrations and plugin installation (Preferred) 

· Unix Sys Admin experience in installing applications on VMs, monitoring performance, tailing 

logs, etc. (Preferred)

· MySQL Database skills to schedule back-ups (Preferred)

· Strong analytical skills

· Experience with test tools (TestRail, HPQC, test automation tools, etc) and code repository tools 

(NTH)

· LDAP integration experience

Education/Cultural

· Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience

· Resource should be a fit with Charter Culture (fast paced, highly collaborative, flexible, open to 

handling differing tasks as needed, can do personality, enthusiastic and passionate about their 

work)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION 

· Work with Product Owner to develop backlog items and get high quality development into 

Production efficiently

· Have a strong working knowledge of available JIRA plugins to help inform make or buy decisions 

(code it or get a plugin for it)

· Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

· Create or modify JIRA workflows including project workflows, field configurations, notification 

schemes, etc. in JIRA

· Responsible for maintaining all Confluence Spaces and JIRA projects, workflows, permissions, 

users, etc.

· Administrator may be responsible for working a queue of JIRA tickets to address system issues, 

user requests, etc. on a daily basis.

· Manage user permissions for tools according to the needs of projects and teams

· Perform application and system administration tasks, including data backups and scheduled jobs

· Work closely with other teams to define best practices for using lab tools across the 

organization and company

· Test new versions of the tools and plug-ins to ensure compatibility

· Research and utilize industry standard methods and techniques
