Facebook could evolve Entrepreneurship Pedagogy too.

Recently we were given a workshop on "IT FOR EDUCATION" by Microsoft and NIIT Partners of our group. It was so beneficial even to use ordinary tools that we use on regular basis with more emphatic and effective. We can also make students part of what we teach using technology. It also helps us to reunite the absentees with live recording and screen recording provisions just using ordinary MS Office tools. The Microsoft network solutions also have something known as "Sway" where like facebook we can create pages, publish our work and share our comments within our official group with high security options for official contents. It was a fantastic experience that we had.

Very well said. I must say that many big IT companies in USA were also started  by people who did not care about formal education or a degree. They had the idea,  the confidence and the drive to experiment. Any progressive academic institution will have to integrate social networks, mobile, analytic and cloud in their operations to remail competitive and viable. Face book, google groups and similar platforms  can be used very effectively to set up discussion groups and get students to engage. From my  experience some students whilst very passive in  face to face  and in class discussions  can be very active in on line forums  . This is particularly more  noticeable  when working with groups which are made up of  students from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds .

 In a research exercise I conducted some time back, it was clearly   apparent that some students preferred the on line discussion groups to in class discussions and contributed very actively .  The other positive  side is that all the discussions are recorded and more importantly the moderator can clearly  identify the level and frequency of participation from the members  

However to avoid 'possible abuse' the rules of engagement and behaviour and the role of the moderator must be  clearly specified when setting up a group .

About this idea

This will benefit:
Students:  particularly apprentices and those undertaking work based learning. They can take photos of problems (e.g. a faulty piece of pipework or joinery), share (in a safe environment) with their student peer group (that are all part of a safe, City College Plymouth tutor group) and share the problem. They do this:
Instantly
Real time
Provides impossible problems (and solutions) too difficult to replicate in the classroom
It could be a question – what's wrong here? How can you help? This will inevitably inspire dialogue and provoke a response from students (particularly those that don't speak up in the classroom so much)
Staff: Knowledge exchange – keeps tutors abreast of industry practices and problems. Particularly problems that cannot be foreseen. It also provides educational freedom for tutors.
•Possible use cases
This will be rolled out across the College within all vocational areas (hairdressing, construction, engineering, media, hospitality and catering etc). It will be about getting the tutors to utilise it – breaking down barrier surrounding Facebook security and taking advantage of this magical tool that can revolutionise learning.
•Deliverables
Facebook Pedagogy will be embedded into the curriculum – at first rolled out within the construction department at City College Plymouth and then, through training and development, within all faculty areas. It is anticipated that more than 50% of the vocational staff will utilise Facebook in their teaching and learning.
•Timescales
To roll out September 2016 within construction and over the full academic year remaining vocational areas.
•People who will be involved in developing the idea
Dr Simon Reddy – Plumbing tutor – project lead.
Construction tutors initially
Vocational tutors
Students, particularly apprentices and those that are work-based learning.
