JOB DESCRIPTION:
80%: Software Development
• Provides technical expertise in design and development planning meetings to help determine the best solution to accommodate the business need
• Partners with entire technical team to determine systems planning, scheduling and implementation timeline to ensure the appropriate timing is set to ensure the project can be completed on time
• Uses technical knowledge of advanced development concepts, practices and procedures
• Creates and reviews technical specifications and test plans
• Identifies and escalates issues that impact project performance
• Diagnoses, isolates and de-bugs complex software problems and preforms problem resolution
• Continually improves operational documentation
• Optimizes software development processes to ensure timely delivery of quality software
• Collaborates with team to promote re-use and develop consistent technical build processes
• Maintain existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects
20%: Technical Leadership
• Leads and develops a team of developers in writing, developing and continuously unit testing software that meets the needs of the design specifications as well as functional testing to ensure software is performing appropriately and at optimal level
• Leads and mentors team in developing software to support technical specifications
• Identifies and develops skills in new technologies necessary for the growth and success of the software development team
• Engineers in the scrum teams will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Lead Software Developer.
REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
• Reports to Manager, Software Development
• Works closely with Software Developers, Technical Project Managers, Architects, QA Engineers
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience building customer-facing, database-driven applications in a SaaS environment
• Experience leading a technical team
• Highly skilled in PHP, Java, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML 5
• Experience of ORM persistence tools
• Experience with continuous integration
• Agile Methodology experience
• Experienced in web/ecommerce architectures, technologies, object oriented principles and design
• Ability to work with a diverse group of co-workers, understand customer needs, and develop solutions to meet those needs.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• Experience with Unix/Linux, Java, Apache, CSS, SOAP, REST, XML
