Re: [MTC Global] The Elephant in the Classroom!

15th June, 2017

The problem afflicting our higher education has a much deeper malaise, with its deep rooted & despicable origins in the annals of our dilapidated school education.

When the 6 D"s , explicitly illustrated by Dr S Pratap Reddy sir, are given a go by & neglected by all means, by any stretch of imagination per se, what student engagement are we deliberating in higher education?.

Next, Digitisation has hit the youth all ends up to the extant that their DNA"s are influenced & lifestyles are dictated by technologyin every sense of the way - more negative than positive.

It is all about a glaring absence of a strong value based school education that is impacting the Higher education in every manner resulting in declining ethical & academic standards. The products we are witnessing are also petty minded managers & seek instant gratification - willing to do anything for a few thousands of rupees.

I reiterated on this aspect earlier & would reemphasise , with a pinch of salt. " Correct School Education - Save india ".

Dear Esteemed MTCians

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and vision. I strongly feel that we should proactively promote the proven approaches and practices such as Socratic method of teaching (which encourages critical thinking) effectively combining the same with hands-on learning. That's perhaps the only way to counter the modern menace of 6 D's very aptly highlighted by Dr. Pratap Reddyji.

There is also a great need for analyzing and understanding the secrets of success of eminent gurus of ancient academies and modern institutions.

Thanks Professor Pratapji for sharing the 6Ds (causes)  of fall resulting into  disengagement.

The Shloka from Geeta needs to be understood, however, in a real sense.

  1. Oh! Bharat, whenever there is a fall in Dharma, I (the Lord) re-incarnates for re-installation of Dharma.
  2. Shall we wait and suffer till such incarnation appear?
  3. God is omnipotent and omniscient and dwells in you and I. If it is so, then why to wait for re-incarnation. One takes the reigns in one's hand and overcomes the problem. That is what is done exactly by the so called re-incarnation. Is it not so?

IT'S DEGRADATION(low self esteem),DEGENERATION(no regard for ethos),
DENIAL(no sense of living life),DIGITISATION(extreme tech),DISCONNECT(no contact with others),DISINTEGRATION(no self worth)...
resulting DISENGAGEMENT !

possible/PROBABLE solution:

यदा यदा ही धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत ! अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानम सृज्याहम !!

Is it Low IQ Level? Or Less Technology ? Teaching -learning process? Less attention ?

It would be an interesting topic to revisit and refine the student engagement methods resulting better outcome.
