Cursing the present education scenario in India under the pretext reservation needs reconsideration.
- Reservation is a Constitutional provision incorporated for the total good of this nation by the then wise and knowledgeable stalwarts.
- The main question is if did we implement reservation in a true spirit or for some other gains?
- For example, Maharashtra Govt. has set aside lakhs of crore rupees towards making farmers free of debt. If it is not implemented in spiri;t and undue advantages are taken by public and bureaucracy, are we not going to repent soon?

#mailMsgBodyContainer blockquote,#mailMsgBodyContainer div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; }China established first modern university 25 years later than India did. But, several universities in china are included in the ranks of top 200 in the world and India has none. The most importnant negative factor is reservation of seats in teaching and research in all courses fir those who have very low ability and merit. We may not accept it due to preoccupations, but nothing can surer than truth. Caste discrimination, deprivation etc are social issues and have nothing to do with research. Research is our weakest component. We are awarding doctorate degrees in large numbers without meaningful research.

--This is really sad that none of the Indian institute or university could secure any position among top 100. But the approach of teaching in India, the bookish style, very little scope for exploration makes our students to follow rather than to lead. Another concern is faculty in Indian higher education sector are not well paid(except IIT and IIMs and some premier institutes). So talented people don't opt of career in this sector. After medical, Engineering this is third choice. I personally could experience the difference as I was 9 years in USA and taught in two colleges. But happy to see that current Government is trying to reform the Higher education sector, and even some schools are inculcating the culture of exploration starting at early age.I am sure very soon we will be able to catch up.Best Regards,Dr. Shampa Nandi,Associate Professor,International School of Management Excellence (ISME),Bangalore, IndiaCell - 91 9945418441--------------------------------------------Subject: Re: [MTC Global] No Indian university in world's top-100 list; China improves rankingDate: Thursday, 15 June, 2017, 7:20 PMIt is not new thingjust repetition of past record. In India people will be topped in creation and innovation toaccumulate more black money. This is the outcome of education and research. It is for personal growth and development rather than socialgrowth and development.Thanks.On 15 Jun 2017 5:08wrote:Indianuniversities yet again missed a spot on the Times HigherEducation (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2017. The list iscompiled through research insight, from leading academicsacross the world. Oxford and Cambridge came in a jointfourth.University ofCalifornia, Berkeley, Princeton University, Yale University,University of Chicago and California Institute of Technologyfollowed, making up the top-10 list. He noted the rise of Asian, particularly Chinese universities. "These are overtakingdistinguished Western institutions, including the ImperialCollege London, the University of Pennsylvania and CornellUniversity." Baty said Chineseuniversities were in a position to challenge institutions inNorth America and Europe. The absence of Indian institutesin reputation rankings is also due to slower adoption ofproactive positioning as against their international, saidNarayanan Ramaswamy Partner & Leader for Education &Skilling Sector, KPMG in India."Most globaluniversities take conscious efforts to position themselvesregarding who they are, why students should consider them orwho have they hired. This is something which Indianinstitutes have rarely done. Even for IITs. It happens morethrough their alumni network than anything that they haveproactively done. While such global rankings are recentphenomena, Indian institutes have been slower in adoptingthem as compared to their global counterparts. India has nowstarted to do this and initiatives such as NIRF arewelcoming steps in that direction," saidRamaswamy.Source: BSEDUCATE, EMPOWER,ELEVATEProf. Bholanath DuttaFounder &President MTC Global: A Global Think Tankin Higher Education, ISO 9001:2008Partner: UN Global Compact I UN Academic--The views expressed are individual and not necessarily MTCGlobal also share the same views.
