Re: [MTC Global] Why Vice Chancellor always signs Master Degreecertificate of all Universities

Chapter XX of the University Statute says only a vice chancellor can sign on degrees and confer them and in his her absence, a person nominated by the syndicate can do so.

On Monday evening, the state advocate general opined that as the university was without a vice-chancellor since January , one of the three members of the VC convenor committee can sign the degree certificates, a section of the syndicate said. As per this opinion, higher education secretary A Karthik, one of the members of the convenor committee, is likely to sign the certificates. This, says a section of the university academia, is unprecedented and against the rules.

This indicates that it's mandatory for VCs to sign on the degree certificate.

There is a rule not a general practice.

Sir,
May be there may be no rule written or may be written but I, believe it is general practice in universities across globe since many years ..

Dear members,

It is known by all of us that the Degree, Master Degree and Ph.D. degree certificate always issued by all the Univessities of India under the signature of Vice Chancellor.

Can any member of our group tell me why Degree certificates always issued by the Universities under the signature of Vice-Chancellors only?

Where it is written that only Vice-Chancellors have the authority to put signature on Degree certificates?

Is there any UGC regulation? Or any other rule?

It is very urgent for me.

Please tell me.

Dr. Subrata Debnath
