RE: [MTC Global] PHD DEGREE HOLDER TAKES UP JOB IN MORGUE AT KOLKATA HOSPITAL

I doubt if the candidate has the competencies of a PhD , otherwise, he would not need counselling from the Principle that the job was not meant for him. It is observed that students having graduated and not finding a job join further programs just to pass the time and earn higher degrees but their skills and their attitude remains below par. Ultimately when parents can't afford anymore, such candidates engage themselves in any kind of jobs, it may be political activism, illegal trades or menial jobs.

Subject: [MTC Global] PHD DEGREE HOLDER TAKES UP JOB IN MORGUE AT KOLKATA HOSPITAL

Kolkata: An application form of a young PhD degree holder sent to a renowned medical college and hospital in Malda for the post of a Group-D job in the hospital morgue have shocked authorities.

The job of an undertaker is to assist the doctors inside the morgue where post mortems are conducted. There were two vacancies in the Group-D catergory in the hospital, for which 315 applications were received. "The application reflects the demand for the government jobs. May be the applicant did not understand the profile of the job. We needed two Group-D staffers to assist the medical students in our hospital for their studies and practical work. We had given advertisement for the job," Pratit Kundu, Malda Medical College Principal, said.

The hospital authorities found it shocking that the candidate was a double master's degree holder - MPhil and PhD. Interestingly, the qualification needed for the post was Class-VIII pass, whereas most of the applications were sent by over-qualified individuals. "We plan to invite the applicant and counsel him that this job is not meant for him," he mentioned.

"It reflects the poor job scenario in the state. A PhD holder should be going into research and it is really sad that he is applying for Group-D job," educationist Pabitra Sarkar said.
