Re: Re: [MTC Global] Student feedback-Yard stick of faculty performance?

Dear Sir, The discussion on the 'student feedback' range from their
desirability as a means to improve performance to their complete
irrelevance in judging the performance. What is the teacher to make
of it.
Here the view of Mr PG Wodehouse about the writer's attitude would
apply to teachers also. Paraphrased, it would read as: There are only
two ways for the teacher to follow his calling. The first is to take
the world very seriously, and teach without caring a damn; the second
is to create the world for yourself and teach without caring a damn.
The teacher should choose one of these options and carry on.

Dear All,
I agree with you and will emphatically say  that student feed backs
should not be taken seriously. Students generally use it as a
weapon against teachers whom they want to revenge upon.As a matter of
fact ,very few students like teachers who are prompt
in their work  and insist on punctuality and discipline.  One of the
major reasons why MBA has fallen astray and  is very difficult to fix
is the free hand given to students in the name of 'respecting' them
for having paid  a hefty amount as fees. A few directors who believe
in divide and rule 'use' students against faculty who he/she feels is
better equipped  than him/her. Management Institutes (many of them or
rather most of them) are in a  real mess ! Lucky are those who can
escape to other jobs.

Dear All,

Traditionally student feedback and exam results been
considered major yardsticks of the performance and effectiveness of
faculty members by the leadership of various
colleges/institutes/organizations. However, lately this issue is
being debated widely because of the loopholes and errors in the
student feedback process. It's observed that in several cases,
student's give faulty feedback owing to strictness/discipline being
imposed by faculty etc. The students may even wrongly favor a faculty
for being friendly and lenient .In some cases the student undergo
undue influence to negatively/positively incline towards a faculty
etc. Apart from this, even management may use this as a tool to
support their decisions in select cases,  Solicit your views,
experiences and opinions on the same.
