Thanks Professor Goelji for your fitting observations: "Nobody is sure of what
is going to happen in the next elections, therefore, everybody has last chance
to make money by any means irrespective of how it effects people or the nation
or the ethics".
This is for what we got our freedom? In what manner, the nation has been led
during the last 66 years, out of which a single party ruled this country over 60
years?

Subject: Re: [MTC Global] Onions are bringing tears to Indian Eyes but not
Bangladeshi EyesNo amount of management can arrest price phenomenon particularly
when traders and the the politicians are in league. It seems that Nasik has
onions being sold at Rs 35 per kg and hence CM of Maharashtra has offered to
Delhi CM Dixit to send teams to buy onions direct from the market. It is funny
because onions in Mumbai are being sold at Rs 65/-'and CM has done little for
his own state.Only option is good governance. This feature seems to be a distant
dream as far as present system of governance is concerned.Regards,SatishOn

80-100 Rupees per kilo in Delhi and at about 65 rupees per kilo in Mumbai.
However, in Bangladesh, it is selling at 45 Rupees per kilo thanks to the export
of Indian onions throughfive border export centres—Mahadipur in Malda, Petrapol
and Gojadanga in North 24-Parganas, Hili in South Dinajpur and Changrabandha in
Cooch Behar in West Bengal. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Prithvi Raj
Chavan said that he had asked his Delhi counterpart, Sheila Dixit to procure
onions directly from Nashik so that it could sell for 50 rupees in Delhi. He has
completely forgotten what is happening in Mumbai. Similarly Govt. of India is
mulling option to import onions from abroad while its above five named export
centres are busy exporting onions to Bangladesh! What a tragedy. According to
Times of India, asimple comparison between a claimed dip in production and the
evident rise in price will be enough to show how people have been taken for a
ride. No arithmetic or economics or plain bazaar logic can explain this. This
sort of a runaway price rise can only be attributed to rampant profiteering that
the government has not been able to check; in all probability, it has been
encouraged by politicians who control the trade.(This material is based on what
has appeared in the Times of India.)As a Management Fraternity, we can come out
with some solutions to arrest the situation……………..Educate, Empower, ElevateProf.
