I understand that the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research (IPPSR), Michigan State University (MSA), United States of America (USA) conducts a training program called "Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP)" for the young professionals who desires to be political leaders in future. See website: www.ippsr.msu.edu/mplp/. In New Delhi, India there is also an Institute called Institute of Political Leadership which also conducts training-cum-course on political leadership for young political minded people who desires to stand for elections for Councilors,MLAs and MPs. see the website: www.iplindia.in
Management Institutes can design similar training programs for political persons in middle and senior levels. I understand that the IIM, Ahmedabad and Management Development Insitute (MDI), Gurugaon, Haryana conduct such training programs for groups of senior bureaucrats and politicians at a combined program.

Dear All,
Can we think of training those who are at the top? A professor in California
once told me " I am a professor in the University. Who can train me? I can train
others in whatever field they want!"
The top politicians are made up of such a unique combination that is the
outcome, the core of wisdom, social climate, socio-political environment blended
with a vision, and self-less services to the nation. Even if we open the pages
of history, Kings used to have NavRatnas or AshtaPradhans who are expert in
their fields. If one looks at the advanced countries we will find that most of
the ministers are military trained, and expertise in a particular field. How
many Defence Ministers of India can handle AK or tankers?
Directed training focused in certain limited areas may prove rewarding to the
politicians falling in the third and second line and not for those who have the
reigns in their hands.
Training is called in if we know the weak areas, potential of people and
matching training to such needs. For top leaders it is an abortive attempt for
how training can match the vision meant for the entire nation?
Vinoba Bhave says teacher or Guru is a path finder (Gatu Vita), he picks up your
finger, shows the path and let you go marching on your own. Same case with the
top leaders of any country. Indian History unfolds almost illiterate PM and CM
have outperformed the educated PM/CM. It does not mean that illiterate PM/CM are
preferred. But then we have to the gaps.
Regards.
Yours,
