As some of you know, I am on the island of Maui getting some R and R.  What none of you know is that I came here with a purpose.  That purpose is to face one of my fears and hopefully, to move waaayyyy outside of my comfort zone.  Some of you may understand that this is my "fire walk".

My husband and a family friend, Tom Pullen, have done this powered hang glideing over Hana, Maui.  Just the 3 hour drive to get to Hana is an experience!  The thought of doing this myself was so terrifying that I put it out of my mind because it was upsetting for me to even think about.  But, it has kept nagging at my subconscious, because I am committed to not being trapped and overwhelmed  by fear.  I want to live my best life.  My family will understand that I am not a "risk taker"!  They laugh that traveling with me is great because they can sit back and relax, because I will have thought about everything to minimize the risk of what we are doing.

What continued to come to mind is our patients that have huge fears about coming to see us in our dental practice. I am just like them!
It takes the same courage for them to make the "drive" and then sit in one of our chairs.

I thought about what I would tell a fearful patient to do and used that as my guide for overcoming my fear of flying on a powered hang glider.......
1.  choose the best
2.  establish a relationship with his team
3.  someone that uses the most updated technology
4.  seek out what others say about their eperience

Then relax and enjoy the ride!
