RE: [ACEsthetics] patient problem with NM orthotic

Most practical answer I’ve ever heard.  That is the hardest thing I’m having to teach my associate and previously my partner.  I told both to offer to move them to another dentist in the practice and if they wanted out then it was a done deal.  Give them back their money and very often they show back up in a small town.  He takes everything so personal when people leave for all sorts of reasons, church, civic club membership, sororities, etc.

Cut your losses, she’s gone, forget it.
Be sure to have her sign a release of liability form before refunding a penny. Your malpractice carrier will be happy to provide you one that’s applicable to your state.

I had someone who came in to see me for what she called it a "bad bite".  We went through discussions and I suggested a phase 1 treatment of a NM orthotic.  We used k-7, tensed and Bob made her an orthotic.  We brought her in to insert.  Tensed, adjusted bite and she was off.  One week later we brought her back for tensing and bite adjustments.  Nowhere did she complain.  She then had an appointment for a month later which she canceled and asked that we refund her money because it was suddenly giving her headaches.  We told her we needed to see her for further adjustments but she declined.  Now we get a call from the credit card company that she is disputing the charge.  I get a letter this morning that she went to another dentist who made her an "insert" for $250 and said that is all she should have paid.  She thinks she's being more than fair by asking to pay only $500 and I refund the rest.  She was bitching because I never gave her a phase 2 treatment plan because I told her we needed to do perio probing, and take an FMX and do a more comprehensive exam for restorative.  The doc that she went to told her phase two was ortho. Any help would be appreciated other than telling her to go screw herself.  I need practical answers.
