It I rather so sad to loss some one as valuable as Justice Nyo Wakai
He was too honest to be a politician, that is why Ni John Fru Ndi made
sure that he was in any delegation of the SDF that had any contact
with the regime.
I can remember the first of such contacts being made by Titus Edzoa
who came to meet Fru Ndi before that Bamenda rally by Biya that was
welcome by a "shower of blessing" and Jomia Pefok, the Bemanda
Councvil Government delegate making a land mark address.
When I met the ugust Justice here in Douala, he told me; "Aaron, our
enemies have been saying that Biya sent Titus Edzoa (still living but
in Prison) to come and bribe Fru Ndi with money. I can tell you,
looking squarely into your eyes that no such thing did happened. What
Edzoa came to do was to make sure that Biya comes and hold his rally
in Bamenda with out any violence."
He aded that Fru Ndi told Edzoa that his fight was for democracy to be
in Cameroon. And that within a democracy, people were free to campaign
every where meaning that Biya can campaign in Bamenda as he can go
campaign in Mvomeka and that the people were the final arbiters" There
was nothing like money, No, No!!" He even told me that he knew that
people like Ben Muna were the ones peddling such none sense around
town.
Justice Nyo Wakai was too refine and honest to be a politician. If he
did not venture into power grabbing politics like in Parliament it was
because he found himself not comfortable with the Cameroon system.
"Aaron, untill the SDF takes power, I cannot see myself in any
political power structure of this country. Politicians make electoral
promises and use instruments put in place to deliver on their promises
when elected. No such viable instruments exist. What we have as a
constitution is some loose writings aimed at perpetuating the rule of
a demi-god..."
That is the legal eluminary and sound mind, death has snatched from us.
rest in Peace Justice till we shall meet to part no more
