[ACEsthetics] New Post/Thread Notification: General Dentistry

Hello,

bobperkins has just posted in the General Dentistry forum of ACE Dental World under the title of enamelplasty to close down an open bite.

This thread is located at http://www.acedentalforum.com/forum/threads/1424-enamelplasty-to-close-down-an-open-bite

Here is the message that has just been posted:

I have a patient with an approx. 5 mm open bite in the anterior. There is approx. a 1 to 3 ration between such that a 1mm reduction in the posterior will result in a closing of 3 mm.

I am wondering if there is any strong objection to doing enamelplasty on the posteriors...approx. 1 mm on upper and lower posteriors? It sounds drastic but how important is that extra 1mm anyways? Closing the open bite is important. The upper anteriors are in the exact right spot. The posterior needs to be closed. Intrusion of posteriors is doable but it is a PIA.

any thoughts?
