We had ours this morning. It takes 2 hours out of our production schedule, but I think these are paramount to a successful practice! It cements into the minds of the team that we HAVE something here. We have an extern here for a couple months and she can't believe the things we do here compared to where she previously worked as a sterilization tech. She told the other team members that they should really appreciate working in this practice because of the lack of stress! She complimented not just the dentistry, but the overall atmosphere in the office. It's nice to have an outside observer see this and verbalize it so that the team DO appreciate what they have!
We also go over the numbers, and even though we're down a bit from last year, we are surviving and in this economy, that's a big plus!
Have your morning huddles and a monthly staff meeting! Even if it's just to air out grievances! Ask each team member if they've heard anything negative or positive, and what they see that is bad or good. Have EACH member voice their opinions and LISTEN to what they say. I agree that sometimes we need to be bosses, but we also need to be attentive to their desires too!
