Role: Cognos Developer

Duration: 6+ Month

Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities/ Experience Needed:

·        This position requires productivity from day one. No on job training allowed.

·        Must have at least 10 years of experience as a Cognos designer and developer, defining and implementing requirements across multiple information technology platforms using Framework Manager, Transformer, Analysis, Query, Reporting and Metrics Studios.

·        Strong hands on skills in IBM Cognos 10.1 Report Studio, Query Studio

·        Strong hands on skills in IBM Cognos 10.1 Framework Manager and building metadata models using Framework Manager

·        Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and design (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema)

·        Must have the knowledge creating small POC databases from Excel and build Reports quickly

·        Highly experienced in Cubes Development from multiple sources without good requirements

·        Highly experienced in Dashboards development with Cognos 8,10 platforms including business insight

·        Working with business analysts to design and develop Cognos BI 10.1 reports, and dashboards using Report Studio with data drill-down and slice-and-dice options

·        Highly experienced with multiple DB platforms

·        Must be willing to play as Architect, Report Developer, OLAP architect

·        Strong hands-on development/technical troubleshooting skills

·        Strong intercommunication skills and ability to work in a team environment

·        Experience in performance tuning, SQL query performance optimization for extraction processes, data modeling and analytical skills

·        SSIS knowledge is preferred but not must.

·        A working knowledge of security within SQL Server and the business intelligence tools

·        Experience with query tools, report writers and OLAP tools (Reporting Services, Cognos, SQL Server Query, Oracle Query)

·        Achievement of professional certifications

·        Strong expertise with tuning Cognos BI OLAP components for faster access and performance (i.e. Transformer, PowerPlay Cube, PowerPlay Client and PowerPlay Studio)
