We are at wits' end trying to find a new OM. It's been a month now, and I'm getting weary of the 8 PM ends to my work days doing the OM stuff after I am through for the day. As a result of this, today I am actually interviewing my first candidate who has no prior dental experience. She comes highly recommended, and I liked what I heard over the phone. She's got customer service skills, and other than the fact that she has no dental experience and doesn't know Eaglesoft, she seems like a good fit personally and skills-wise at this early stage. (Today's interview will either confirm that or eliminate her from consideration.)

What makes the proposition a bit more daunting is that she will be the ONLY front desk person (right now I have none!), so there is no one else to train her except for myself and my assistant. I have spoken with my assistant, and she is ready to help bring this person up to speed if she fits well. The good news is that we will have the Christmas break to come in and work more-directly with her to hopefully get her up to speed. I don't think I would consider this if we didn't have some time coming up to devote to this.

My question (other than, Am I crazy for even thinking about trying this?) is: Is there a training resource that is avalable that can help introduce someone to the ins and outs of coding and insurance? Anyone used one that worked well? I know Corinne might be useful at some point, but I'm not sure the time for her is right when someone is just starting to learn the basics.

What say ye?
