Do any of you in pennsylvania know anything about review course requirements for our efda's. one of mine got a message about it on her cell phone. i just called the state, they have no clue what i'm talking about. here is a cut and paste from manor colleges website about their review courses, interestingly enough taught by one of my hygienists!!! anyone know anything about this?????

MANDATORY COURSE OFFERINGS FOR DENTAL PROFESSIONALS AND EFDAS

Coronal Polishing: Mandatory for Expanded Functions – 3 CEUs
On April 29, 2010, past PA Governor Edward Rendell signed House Bill 602, also known as Act 19 of 2010 which expanded the scope of practice of EFDAs. It is now mandatory for ALL Pennsylvania Expanded Functions Dental Assistants to fulfill the requirement of three (3) hours of continuing education by physical attendance at a clinical training course on coronal polishing and fluoride application by March 31, 2013. Certificate of completion will be given at the end of this course to submit to the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
Pre-requisite Requirements: A valid EFDA license, current CPR card, completed health history and consent form (inquire at the time of registration for details)

Radiology Review for the Dental Professional - Mandated and Approved by the Department of Environmental Protection for Dentists, Hygienists, EFDAs, and Assistants – 4 CEUs
This course is designed to meet the current DEP requirements (which need to be updated every 4 years) for all dental professionals who work with radiation. Topics to covered include: Rules and Regulations, Properties of X-radiation, the dental X-ray machine and x-ray generation, interactions of X-radiation and matter, X-ray film and image production, radiation and image characteristics (including kVp and mA), radiation biology, patient and operator safety, patient management, intraoral techniques and errors, panoramic exposure technique and errors, infection control, quality control and digital and 3D cone beam imagery.
