I agree that student feedback should not be given too much weightage initially.
Feedback after several years would be much more accurate (although of less use in the current scenario).
I have had students who argued the most with me, write back years after graduating to tell me that I was right - which they only found out first hand in the 'real world'.

Traditionally student feedback and exam results been considered major yardsticks of the performance and effectiveness of faculty members by the leadership of various colleges/institutes/organizations. However, lately this issue is being debated widely because of the loopholes and errors in the student feedback process. It's observed that in several cases, student's give faulty feedback owing to strictness/discipline being imposed by faculty etc. The students may even wrongly favor a faculty for being friendly and lenient .In some cases the student undergo undue influence to negatively/positively incline towards a faculty etc. Apart from this, even management may use this as a tool to support their decisions in select cases, Solicit your views, experiences and opinions on the same.
