Re: [ACEsthetics] free dentistry for the team families?

Family living in house gets free prophies/recare. Fillings, crowns etc are free minus lab fee up to $1000 per year.  If they want more (smile makeover) then 25% off MAX.

NO deal for parents, siblings or cousins.

I learned my lesson from a longtime friend of my father.  His friend was a jeweler and when my dad kind of hinted at a discount because they were such good friends.  The jeweler said, "Joe, you don't get a discount.  I make my money off my friends and family.  My enemies go someplace else!"  LOL ,still remember that.

I've always felt that dentistry for the immediate family still living at home was an employment benefit for the staff.
I know many offices that hold a team/family dental day a few times a year and all donate their services to each other.  For me, I'm selfish and know that I do my best work when I'm in a routine of the daily work flow.  So, I much prefer just to handle these rare situations within our regular schedule.

The thing is...you've already got a precedent and policy in your manual.  Slippery slope just to change it now that some one is requesting it....

Subject: [ACEsthetics] free dentistry for the team families?

I know this subject has been brought up before but..
Today at our monthly staff meeting, my receptionist asked if her entire family could be treated for free.
Before you jump down my throat..She said something that made sense. If her four kids and husband have ideal dentistry (minus lab bills, etc), they're good messengers and allies for referrals. This would of course mean that all other spouses and kids would also receive no charge dentistry. I have ROUTINELY offered a 30% discount on all 'immediate family' services (plus lab bills). I thought this was fair and it IS in our office manual.
What is it that you all discount immediate family members of team members? What's considered fair and normal?
Thanks
Ray
