In UK the UID has been withdrawn after it was found not to be working….
Since PC and Nilekani were fighting over their own versions of UID they are both desperate to prove that their cards are better it seems.

Subject: Re: [MTC Global] Adhaar Cards
Very True Goel Sir, if all ideas are discounted as Bad and we look at every proposal with distrust & suspicion....it would discourage people who really want to do something good for the masses.... I have met some people who have been invited by Government to share their ideas and plans on different matters and their expertise and opinion is valued and the same is shared with a core group who work on it and fine tune it to give the new idea a shape... but unfortunately...while fine tuning it at time some areas may get overlooked and a small slip is then blown into a big issue by the trp hungry media...and of course others who want to get even call for the head of the individual who mooted the idea....... What Nilenkani Originally must have proposed as an Idea which was hijacked by other Government agencies to add new content and form so that the same could very well be an Identity Card for all Indians... in U.S. & U.K. there's already a system in place...and even people who join corporate there need a work permit...which is to be kept with them at all times.... these very same Indians when they come back here....they pooh-pooh a good idea and trash it.... Aadhar wasn't conceived with the idea to do Cash transfers to poor families...this is something which Government stumbled upon during further research on its outreach.... but how many people would have given the right information...how many allowed linking of Bank Accounts having a fear that Govt. could use it to track down their transactions and they would have to pay the correct I.T.?
We need to set an example then only we can ask people to join us in the march to success.
Warm Regards,
Stephen

There is no good or bad scheme. Its implementation and use makes it good or bad. We do not see anything being discussed as to how it will be ensured that the scheme is sincerely implemented. In the beginning itself declared date has been extended by 2 months because of glitches, only 7 items out of 28 have been included. On the other end cash money will go in the hands of males and there is every chance that every bit of will be pawned with lender even before it is received or it will be consumed in the liquor and gambling instead of ensuring meeting of daily needs of family. Hence at this stage we shall have to wait and watch.
