Re: [ACEsthetics] Bruce Fife PHD. Coconut Oil

No argument here, although at least they compared it to a standard.

Rinse with anything for 20min and I'm sure the counts will go down.
I have several patients that swear by it and I can't argue with the results of their mouths, but have a hard time making a connection to all the other supposed benefits

Hardly a cure all (but what is).

Yeah... only Real Men use Pennzoil!  Expectorate into the crankcase.

Even though the entire concept of oil pulling is humorous and devoid of scientific merit, I personally find that when I want to draw the "toxins" out of my mouth, Pennzoil works best.

Yeah, oil 'pulling'.

Skeptical, but there are certainly those out these who swear by it.

Don't see how I could possibly hold oil in my mouth that long with spitting or changing it.

I was speaking to someone last night who Brought up the oil and said he
puts it in his mouth and leaves it in for 20 minutes 3-4 times a week
and he has read that it kills the bacteria in his mouth. He also said
it has a bodily effect of detox. Thought tha was very interesting as I
never heard of that before. Afraid of the dentist and has not gon for
20 years. He told me to read his book.

I just made some biscuits with coconut oil substituted for shortening as an experiment this morning. Other than being dry they were delicious! The recipe definitely needs some tweaks, may use some regular flour instead of whole wheat next time, etc.

My parents spread coconut oil on their toast - they've said it's good for myelin repair in the sense of protecting against Alzheimer's, and our 12 year old daughter has eczema - it's one of the best things we've found for her lips and the insides of her elbows. She scooped a baby-food jar size out of our 2 pound tub and keeps it for her personal use. I had not heard of him but the "miracle" of coconut oil is definitely getting around and I figured it's gotta be better than some of our other saturated fats. I have really low total cholesterol personally (like 100) but my HDL ratio is low and figured that I'd try a little here and there to see how it effects the ratio next bloodletting. :)

It's also good in the aromatherapy sense if you're in a tropical mood..... ;)
