Muscles are told what to do by cns and dictated by skeletal components  (origins and insertions and skull shape) and path to centric occlusion. So not quite as simple to say "muscle" (or joint).

The funny thing is that I have begun to feel that less and less of the problems we see are the result of joint pathology.

The success of the AMPSA (NTI's and the like) and botox for head and neck pain tells me that muscles are the mediators, and you could throw in TruDenta there, too. Muscles, muscles, muscles!
