$210,000 is what you mean Steve. Not sure it wouldnt be better to get a new office for that price. In 7 years you can have the office paid for and about $500K in equity plus a Annual net from the practice. Where do you put your money?

I agree with you and there is more to the costs.

Our practice purchased the first Newtom in a GP office almost 11years ago.  Then it was upgraded to the 2nd generation.

When you apply the costs and ROI, it is cheaper to refer a patient to a center that has a machine that many can use.   Today we use a Lady with a mobile ct scanner for our offices -by appointment.  It is a cheaper way and we get all the info with no costs to the practice.

What I have learnt from these experiences is that it is NOT the machine BUT the information and compilation AFTER the scan

There are Dental Radiolgists that read all our scans and write their findings
There is a group that does the initial plan for implant location, preprosthetic surgery and
THEN
the Surgeon and I work with the Lab in the final design of the implant placement.

SO there is more to owning a CT scanner over bragging rights.
The ROI just cannot justify its place at the current costs in a one office even if the gross is 2 - 3 million a year!!
If has to be used by many all the time.

IF the CT unit is on a mobile platform, a group can co-share the costs and put it use but that is another issue!
