My first responsibility is to my patients, not the arrogant and ignorant
a-holes that dot the quackwatch scene.
Not to say they're not right at times, but they have petrified neurons in many
areas of scotoma.
Yes, you need to do the eternal calculus. Risk vs benefit. Fortunately, with
most ozone stuff the risk is just so danged minimal, it's pathetic. Put that
in the perspective of the potential of fixing so many things.
Compare risks to antibiotics, surgery, radiation therapies. The differences
are breathtaking.
And how long are we going to let third party payments or non-payments deprive
our patients of their choice of valuable care?

My sense was that since insurance companies do not pay for these
treatments, doctors don't want to learn to perform them They are also
scared by the quackwatch types of being labeled a quack. I spent some
time on quackwatch.com yesterday reading about quacks and charlatans
that were doing procedures that were proven to be successful. Even
Louis Pasteur was ostracized by his contemporaries. Interesting.
Surprised I didn't see my name or any of yours up there. Just imagine,
there are dentists using lasers to treat perio disease. Must be all
quacks :-)

Extensive studies have been done, but many American doctors are too
arrogant
to pay attention to anything that was not done here. Yes, they have
heard of
double blind studies in Germany.

Those studies have been done and were presented. I am still amazed by
the
incredible success in treating cancer patients.

The elephant in the room here is getting past the anecdotal into the
reproduceable, double blinded and physiologically sound evidence we
need. It
is as easy for me to get excited as the next guy, but we can say the
same
things about Tru-Denta, about all sorts of occlusal theories, about
Applied
Kinesiology and so on. And we all know it, we are all wanting to just
slide
past it, and I don't think we can. Sorry, I would like that, too. I like
using ozone as well.
But phrases like: "Hey, it is used extensively in Europe", or "It made
my
pet turtle live an additional ten years" or even "It made my shoulder
quit
hurting almost immediately", well, those are total anecdotal references
and
if we want to get this modality accepted, we need to get to work, and I
know
we can't get big research dollars from anybody, but it still needs to be
done, right?
Tell me something to make me feel better about all of this....

It was great being a part of this IAOHD congress and Bill Domb, Eric
Zaremski, Matt Manesco, Mark Weiser, Julian Holmes, Bill Touhig and all
the
speakers and support staff did a great job in putting on this event.
With
the array of International speakers you couldn't help but come out of
the
event with your mind aching from all the information that was
disseminated
even if you were only half listening. Had plenty of conversations with
Keith Hollander, John Highsmith, Suz Ahnquist, Tim Rainey, Bill Mueller
and
many others and we all were amazed. Ozonotherapies are an integral
part of
most of our practices and for those that were just testing the water I
can't
imagine that they too will not now be immersed. Quite a while ago I
had set
up a meeting that will be at my office in St Paul Minnesota on March
8th and
9th with Dr's Phil Mollica and Bob Harris presenting on the use of
Ozone in
the Dental Practice. I just wanted to let everyone here n Ace know what
there are a few spots left that you can begin your journey.
I Know that Bill Domb is doing some courses too so it's time to get
involved and see what this excitement is all about. Go to
either ozonefordentistry.com or ozonecourse.com to sign up for one of
their
(Mollica and Harris's) courses or contact Bill Domb about one of his
courses. Whatever you do just get started. I can't imagine practicing
Dentistry without the Use of Ozone anymore. I would love to see many
of you
come to MN in March and either start your journey or continue the
exciting
trek. On another note, I would highly encourage you to check out the
IAOHD
and consider joining at www.IAOHD.org . Much of the information from
the
Congress will eventually be on this site but you will have to be a
member to
access the information and literature reviews and articles that are on
this
site.
