Title: WebSphere Administrator
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 4 Months contract (with possible extension)
Positions: 1

Description:

The client is in the midst of WebSphere Portal, Application Server (WAS), and Process Server upgrade and the ideal candidate will be Responsible for upgrading WebSphere environment comprised of components mentioned above to the latest versions. The candidate will coordinate with developers, architects, and other support teams for server environment setup, support. He or she will be responsible for administering WebSphere Application Server and Portal Server environments;. The candidate will work as part of a team that provide Level 1/2/3 WAS & Portal infrastructure support for pre-production phases or live projects.

Requirement:

• Knowledge of Unix operating systems and commands.
• Understand the basics of the J2EE specification and relate to WebSphere Application Server as a product
• Basic understanding of databases, LDAP, operating systems and networking principles
• In-depth understanding of WebSphere architecture, topology, configuration & management
• Understand product installation structure and articulate the purpose of various command line tools, directories, configuration files , property files and log files
• Ability to understand, analyze the infrastructure issues, and clarity in problem determination approach
• Knowledge of jython, shell scripting ;
• Understand WebSphere Portal product, its features, page management, themes, portlet deployment, and security management

Specifics

• Install WebSphere Application Server product 8.x and migrate content, data, configurations from existing WebSphere environment to a new one
• Deploy and manage enterprise applications
• Configure WebSphere application server and portal server instances ( Containers, JVM, Security, DataSource, JMS, SSL, Clusters, Logging, Tracing, Web servers, name bindings etc)
• Install, and configure security, external database, clustering and LDAP configuration with WebSphere Portal 8.x
• Manage WAS, WPS server runtime (all functional components) using the admin console, wsadmin and other command line tools like xmlaccess, ConfigEngine;
• Manage portal pages, themes, portlets, and installation of applications
• Troubleshoot issues with any functional component related to WAS / Portal
