Skills Required and Job Description:

Job Responsibilities: The individual will be responsible for maintaining LINUX (RedHat)/UNIX systems at the global level. This includes highly critical trading systems, development and QA systems. The person will manage major incidents, escalations to vendors, coordinate with other support teams and facilitate root cause analysis sessions. Responsibilities also include maintenance of hardware/software configurations for Red Hat Linux enterprise systems located within a Data Center. Ability to generate, install, implement and maintain system-level software packages such as OS, Clustering, disk and file management, backup, web applications, DNS, programming languages such as c, Perl, Shell and secure shell. Develop, install and maintain utility programs/shell scripts used to manage application start, stop, end-of-day, monitoring and failure/recovery. Provide automated solutions Experience with OS Config management tools such as puppet. Provide technical assistance to development for hardware/software selection, support personnel for system repair and operations personnel for problem management. Evaluate new technology and tools to identify cost efficient solutions to the management and operation of computer systems. Work closely with program management team to define project requirements, assist with project coordination, evaluate hardware requirements and recommend computing solution. Support all aspects of project life cycle through ITIL based Configuration, Change, Service, Incident and Problem management. Support operational, failure/recovery and performance testing in both the test and production environments. This position is in NY. Required Skills: • 5 years experience as a VMware Engineer/Architect • 6 years experience as a Senior Systems Architect/Programmer/Administrator/Engineer • 4 years experience working with Unix/Linux as Systems Engineer. • Experience working with OS config management tool (Puppet prefered). • 2 years experience with TCP/IP networking • 4 years System Administration experience in a 24x7-production environment dealing with 500+ servers • 2 years experience with n-Tiered architecture Preferred Skills: • RedHat Certification • VMware Certification • Network Analysis and troubleshooting • QA testing and performance experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
