RE: [ACEsthetics] Maintenance of Hybrids

It depends on the screws and the torque rating of them. Some fixation screws are designed to elongate or deform under torque to decrease the likelihood of screw loosening, these I would replace every time. If the torque is low and the screws are more robust you may be able to get more mileage out of them. Ask your rep if you have an honest relationship with them but beware, they are salespeople and screws are expensive items that are usually in their trunk stock ;)

John,

How often would you change screws on these?  Everytime?  Every other?

Be sure to figure in the cost of new screws as well. This is a debatable necessity to some but in my opinion much better safe than sorry.

How often are you guys removing these?  In the past, I have just done once a year.  I have a patient that has upper and lower hybrids, one with 6 implants and the other with 8.  The patient previously had removable dentures with a bar and we switched it over to hybrids.  How much do you charge for something like this.  I have 14 implants sites on the denture that I have to cut the composite out of, remove the dentures and then put everything back.  Not sure what to charge for this (I know what I want to charge for this).
