RE: [ACEsthetics] Maintenance of Hybrids

This excellent point was brought up at the recent AACD meeting by Aldo
Leopaldi. He is very careful to discuss maintenance of these prosthetics at
the start. He also lets them know that if they have plastic denture teeth
instead of porcelain teeth, there is a re-set fee as the teeth will wear out
over time. He charges $5-7k per arch for this service to re-veneer the
prosthetics. He is recommending removal on average every 3 years with
inspection and cleaning. New screws are also suggested and not to be torque
greater than 20 I believe. Not sure what his fee was for just removing and
replacing the screws. WS

so, during a consultation, what do we tell them as far as maintenance? come
in once per year for irrigation/cleaning/exam? replace screws as needed,
usually every 3-5 years?

I ask because I think I am letting these patients fall thru the cracks. we
aren't pushing for a recare protocol, like we do with normal hygiene
patients.

When we perceive that they need attention. It is time consuming and
expensive. My early ones were on Nobel implants. They charge over
$100 per screw. It takes me an hour per arch to remove and replace.

I change the screws every time. I charge $1K per arch. We don't do it
every year. We design so that the patient can get hydrofloss with Dakins
solution under the prosthesis. The lower is high water.

John,

How often would you change screws on these? Everytime? Every other?

Be sure to figure in the cost of new screws as well. This is a debatable
necessity to some but in my opinion much better safe than sorry. Warm

Subject: [ACEsthetics] Maintenance of Hybrids How often are you guys
removing these? In the past, I have just done once a year. I have a
patient that has upper and lower hybrids, one with 6 implants and the other
with 8. The patient previously had removable dentures with a bar and we
switched it over to hybrids. How much do you charge for something like
this. I have 14 implants sites on the denture that I have to cut the
composite out of, remove the dentures and then put everything back. Not
sure what to charge for this (I know what I want to charge for this).
