RE: [ACEsthetics] Rotator Cuff Surgery

You did not have a torn rotator cuff.  As the young new hot doc here told me in a staff meeting, he’s seeing tons of people coming for a nearby group planning rotator cuff surgery who have no tear and need no surgery…only physical therapy.

Hi Mac,
Torn Rotator cuff does not mean surgery. Ask basic info (grade of tear etc – I suspect you know all this so my apologies for redundancy). It is likely that posture, stability of the shoulder (hypermobile b/c of possible tear) and hypomobility of spine (because of prolonged dental postures etc) predispose to improper movement patterns. Attached are a few slides from part of a chapter I did for lippincott a few years ago. Hope they provide some insight.

Some of you may remember I was facing this horrible surgery.

Update:  I went to see a chiropractor who works on Olympic  athletes world wide in a town next to Galveston, Tx.  After a quick  interview and putting my left arm through certain motions, he said I may  indeed have a torn rotator cuff but that was not what was causing the  pain.  He said my fall, froze the joint and corresponding muscles.

He recommended me to a MD who had studied under Janet Travel, one of  her star students too.  He did trigger point injections with Vit B and  lidocaine.  I still have restricted ROM but boy does it feel  better.  I am scheduled for more on Thursday.

And yes, I cancelled the surgery which I hope to never have.

We constantly need to look out of the box don't we?
