Re: The Bitterness of Colonial Tax cum Election Contribution in the NW Province

Call it what you may, these are bribes. A tax can be accounted for in the national revenue, but these payments, like petroleum revenue disappear in thin air and cannot be traced anywhere. The collectors are rich already, can you locate who is really getting the election money. These could also be some sort of reallocation of national revenue coming from the state and then giving back as kick backs.

Dear All,

there is nothing wrong with North Westerners. These high payments from the NW Province are not contributions for CDPM elections. It is a colonial tax. Contribute or lose your job and if a businessman, lose your business. Danpullo and others know it is mandatory. They have to pay this colonial tax.

If you do not pay as a contractor from the NW, you will never win another contract. The exaction from the colonial masters from across the Mungo is as brutal as it is metriculous. They come and tell you that other businessmen and high office holders in the province have already contributed. It is either you pay or perish.

NW is not the richest province there is, nor the most CDPM province. They are the ones that challenged Biya so if you do not pay, they will come after you and claim you are sponsoring the SDF.

I had a friend whose late father was a Bamendrous Bamilike who went through Sasse, studied abroad to PhD level and returned to Cameroon. He was a Director of a parastatal in Yaounde but very strict Anglo Saxon guy. When he got the job, the house he was given had a cook, gardening, household servants etc. He immediately fired all except one and said he does not need all these servants as a Director. He was driving a Peugeot 504 when all other directors had exotic cars.

He approached the job in that manner and the loss making parastatal declared a profit after years of losses. At the end of the year, his minister sent tickets for him and his family for holidays in Paris. He sent them back saying he is not going for holidays and even if he did, he will have to buy it from his salary. The surplus the parastal made, the minister wanted him to transfer it to the ministry for various purported projects so that they can lay their hands on the money and he said no. He said the excess goes to the treasury and not to ministerial projects.

The minister went to the presidency and tried for him to be removed. The presidency checked and said his parastatal is one of the few that is not asking the government for subvention so why remove him and said no.

The minister sent people to the presidency to say the Director is SDF. The presidency sent secret service people to come and investigate the Director. They came to his office and said they have been informed that he is SDF and all.

This Director to protect himself, although not a political man, each year, buys his membership card for the party and keeps. When they accused him, he told them to give him a minute. He pulled a drawer and removed his annual party cards from CNU under Ahidjo to present day CDPM cards. Not a year missing. He showed them and said he who sent you should put his own cards on the table for all these years then we would know who is CDPM and who is SDF.

The secret service guys looked at all the cards and were extremely shocked and embarrassed. They were not expecting this kind of evidence for some many years and not a year missing. They left and reported to the presidency that "l'anglo la est fort. Il est plus CDPM que nous ici a la presidence". That is how his job and perhaps his life was saved. This just shows that the system is exacting and forcing these poor NW people to cough up or be crushed. Danpullo paid a 100 million colonial tax to cover his businesses and interest. You think it is because he likes Biya?. He romanced with Ahidjo, then Ahidjo's enemy Biya and will do same with the next colonial master. If Nangah had paid his colonial tax like Danpullo, they might have allowed him to continue his business. These colonial lords across the Mungo can crush you in a day with a tax bill and seal your premises or businesses. Niba Automobile can tell you that from the grave.

The wages of black on black colonization in Southern Cameroons is the payment of such high selective colonial taxes disguised as party contribution. Mamfe people paid the colonial tax cum party contribution from Kumba because there was no road (Kumba Mamfe road not fit for greats like Agbor Tabi) to go and collect from Mamfe. How can Agbor Tabi tax (under the cover of party contribution) such abandoned people who have suffered in roadless bondage for over 50 years?. How can they be forced through various means to pay millions to be used in Yaounde where there are good roads?.

The exaction from the NW is the most brutal hence the high figures being bandied around. They might call the colonial tax "party contribution", "Biya re-election contribution", "security contribution" etc., but it does not matter. What is in a name?. Vinegar called by any other name shall taste as bitter.

NW people should be consoled for such high colonial tax being forced on the province through the most brutal and rudeless means possible devised by Nji Atanga and Co and not to be looked at with ridicule, opprobium or odium for paying the colonial tax cum party contribution.
