RE: [ACEsthetics] Buying records of retiring dentist

If it was wrought with fraud his ass should have been in jail.  We’ve got one now that is on the verge of closing and we will simply put an ad in the paper stating all of her patients are welcome at our office.

Several years ago, I bought a practice that was wrought with fraud, so there was no way to get a true value of the practice. What we did was to give his patients that came to me certain account numbers. Then, after the first year, I paid him half of what I produced from those patients. Any referrals or family members that were not part of the original proactive were mine in full. This was a fair way for both of us.

I know some of you must  have purchased the records of a retiring dentist.

If so, how did that go?

In my town there is a guy retiring.  He is almost 80.  His practice had been fading away for a few years.  Only 230,000 last year.  I don’t want the building or the equipment, but I would consider buying the records if they are cheap enough.  I figure only the folks who show up in his recall are viable, and I’m sure some of them will not transfer over.

Any Ideas on what the records and patient list might be worth?
