Re: [MTC Global] Corporate Governnance in ET

Respected Academicians,

Let me appreciate the feeling of Dr. Waghodekar for highlighting this key issue and also thanks to Shree Goelji for showing the brilliant competency model. But who follows this parameter of benchmarking. The main criteria for selection of faculties or intellectual resources in private institution is depending on two factors:

A) Lowest quoted price i.e. salary,

B) Strong recommendation through own circle of selection committee.

Merit could not be considered at primary stage,

How could we think to improve our country's quality of education??? We believe in Center for Excellence only by showing in colored poster, we like to display NBA / NAAC accreditation or ISO series certification but at what cost. The time has come to realize all these issues, otherwise, new generation will think in future prior to take admission in private institution. The signal is clear during this academic year's IITs' admission and of course in MBA admission also.

Regards,

Dr. R. S. Ghosh

Yes, the model is applicable and useful to any leader in business, politics, non-profits, religious, educational organisation, home, or otherwise...

All that needs to be done is to tweak it for specificity of the situation, location, culture, problems and opportunities, and size of operations - and anything else I may have forgotten here.

Every budding and most successful leader (and leaders in any stage in between) could use this to guide his/her future thoughts and actions as LEADER.

Best wishes.

I think the competency model given in the said article as given below could apply to any business leadership model, why CEO alone!

Today's ET Corporate Dossier focuses on the practices of the Board of Directors.

You will like the articles on the practices of the best Boards, and the design of the Indian CEO Competency Model.

We are all leaders in some form or other, and can borrow many ideas from these articles.

The print edition is better. But here is one e-page:  http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/21333645.cms

Best wishes.
