Not really, but I posted earlier if anyone had heard of Nate Northington and got no replies.
Nate went to school with my wife and I met him Saturday at their reunion.
I told him if he'd turn around I might have recognized his back since that was all I saw of him on the football field.
Nate was the first African-American player to play in the SEC. Was the first to ever get a scholarship to any SEC school in any sport.
Talk about a pioneer. I kinda felt like I was talking with Jackie Robinson.
He's written a book about his experience. Still Running.
Hard to believe in my lifetime things were that way. Glad to see I got to see that change.
BTW, Jack, Bear Bryant signed his first 5 years later.
