Re: [MTC Global] Which Management field to choose

I agree with Prof. Dutta

Quote ----"Multi-Skilling / Cross functional knowledge is the top order of the day"   ......Unqoute

Please take MBA studies as a wholesome study rather than some disjointed papers..

I personally feel..the Core Subjects have more to add then the specialization Subjects...

Personally i am a Major in Marketing....and i have taught a wide variety of marketing Subjects....

But the Subjects i feel are most challenging to teach are the core Subjects

...many of them bringing together an assimilation of many Subjects of MBA. ..

Let Him choose what he feels he will enjoy doing most....

And please do tell him not to take Core subjects lightly... They are tremendously important in laying a solid foundation...in management.

thanks and regards

Dr. Padma

Marketing: Skills: excellent communications, sensing the pulse of customers,

Operations: Skills: mostly shopfloor job, result oriented time bound, excellent
communications and relationships with subordinates, peers and boss, needs both
more physical and mental skill, analytical and mathematical skill.

The student has to decide the specialization based on his attitude and aptitude,
giving not more importance to pay-package but to satisfaction.

In fact, in the present global era only performance matters, nothing else. Hence
any specialization has equal opportunity for performing guys, switching from one
area to another as one rises the ladder. Best Luck!

My son with a BTech (CS)  background,  no workex,  has
recently joined symbiosis pune for his MBA (2013-15) batch.  He would
prefer to choose between Marketing and Operations as his Major..

May i request the mtcians and prof dutta to help me guide my son onto the correct
path,  keeping in view the management trends for next two decades.

Thanks a lot
