Dear Sankalp 2013 participants
In a totally surprising and unexpectedly, it has been raining heavily for the last three days in Jodhpur City as well as our campus. It has rained 133 mm just in the last 48 hours. This is something which has happened for the first time in the last 32 years, as per local newspaper reports. Consequently the life in and around Jodhpur has been disrupted. The flights to and from Jodhpur have been cancelled or diverted during the last two days. Even some trains have also been cancelled.
The rains in the area of our campus, which is 46 kms away from Jodhpur City, have in fact been much intense than Jodhpur City. Our entire campus is also, therefore, flooded with water. The tent person was to begin the process of pitching tents from 27 Sept 2013 but has not been able to begin the work so far. A lot of other preparatory work for Sankalp 2013 has also been adversely affected. It is still raining heavily and expected to continue till tomorrow morning.
We hope that by tomorrow the situation should improve. Therefore, we will have just two days to do whatever we had planned to do over a week for preparations including the tent person to install the tents. Despite the extremely adverse situation which has unexpectedly come up, we sincerely do hope to be able to somehow do justice to the preparations. However, I would humbly request all of you to kindly bear with us, if there are any shortcomings.
In view of sudden heavy rains for the last three days and still continuing, the weather at Jodhpur has also changed and become quite cold. Nights have become particularly very cold. Therefore, all of you are advised to bring some woolens as a precautionary measure, just in case you feel the need.
See you and best regards
Varun Arya
