@Pa Fru et Manu: Re: Inside Innoson Motor Manufacturing Plant Nnewi Nigeria - World's First Black-Owned Car Manufacturer

Hi Pa Fru,
on the shape of the car being similar to a Hyundi, I am not an expert in patenting of shapes but Innoson has many patent agreements with various manufacturers hence if the shape is patented by Hyundi, an agreement might be in place instead of redesigning shapes from scratch. I am not sure.

On whether the cars are manufactured or they are doing a "Manu computer type" assembly, all I can say is Innoson has one of the biggest plastic factories in Africa and manufactures various kinds of plastic parts from bumper, car seats, batteries etc.

On the tyres, Innoson now has a tyre factory that he decided to build after Dunlop closed shop in Nigeria. He is into bicyle, car and various tyre manufacture with the abundant rubber/petrochemicals raw material in Nigeria.

On metal work, Innosum inports flat steel from Czech Republique and builds all the bodywork in Nigeria. The tubular steel parts are also done in Nigeria. Various parts not made by Innoson are sourced from the numerous and licenced part manufacturers in Nnewi.

As a summary, to give you a holistic picture of the situation, when President Jonathan came to inaugurate the Innoson factory, he told the President infront of the whole world that he is not a car assembler but a manufacturer. That he manufactures almost all the rubber parts and most of the metal parts and the ones he does not manufacturer he sources them from Nnewi manufacturers who have specialised in those parts.

He said the main think that he imports is the Engine block and one or two parts. He told the president that "Mr President, I am not asking much. All I ask is that you give me electric(he is running on generators most of the time and very costly) and Ajakouta (the moribund steel factory about to be resuscitated) and within 2 years I will manufacture the engine in Nigeria. I have all the agreements to Manufacture the engines in place and I am waiting for you".

Regards

Manu!
Come on! Even for CUE's sense of the debauched, he doesn't believe there's a champagne plant in Cameroon! Of all things to "assemble", a champagne distillery! I don't believe it and I'm sure you mean a chocolate factory or a rubber lumping factory or a palm oil milling factory. I can even deal with a Guinness or Star Beer factory, but a bubbly distilling one? For who, us? So, Manu please cross-check and confirm to us that you were mistaken on this champagne factory thing. Waiting .......
