RE: Elections spotlight Cameroon's weak democracy

Yes Njoya was a big Slave master. Enslaved his own people. Atangana did no such thing. Atangana played politics by outsmarting competition. Njoya has the blood of his subordinates on his hand. Let's talk history. Njoya, just like Idi Amin gave himself the title of Sultan. He did not fight any true war to conquer and defend an empire like the other true sultans did. I'm not downplaying some of the things he did. But I'm tired of people drumming him up like he is the greatest personality out there.

Besides, I noticed that you keep stating these examples in people while I am stating examples in institutions. You are one of those people that believe in personality cultism. I am more a person of a system that can outlive the best and the worse persons. The people that you cite may have been good people. But what happened after them? What happened is that the system is not built to hold and continue the good deeds that some of these people started.

That's what it is about. It's about long lasting institutions that can withstand the best and worse people. Democracy has proven itself to do that compared with any other kind of political system you may want to conjure up. That is a democracy System built from bottom ---> up
