Re: RE: [MTC Global] Onions are bringing tears to Indian Eyes but not Bangladeshi Eyes

This is not the unexpected or sudden outcome. This is out-turn of we have
sown.On one side wages in organized sectors are dis-proportionately hiked, the
same money is looted by back door, scams on rise, 7th pay commissions is
declared too in too much in advance!

We talk much much about management, data mining, IT, etc. Do we find an iota of
this in our monitoring? In fact, the produce of onions is hardly reduced by 5%,
but the increase in prices is sky rocketing. What has happened to all computer
based models? Can we imagine the plight of common man that constitutes over 70%
of Indian population, having no coverage like those in organized sectors? Where
would they go? Who will listen to them? Are they capable to unite for a
movement?

When the country's fate is in the wrong hands, how management could overcome
this issue? Integrity, character and love for the nation are the foundation of
good governance. Do we have these in place?

Subject: [MTC Global] Onions are bringing tears to Indian Eyes but not
Bangladeshi EyesOnions are bringing tears to Indian eyes with this commodity
selling at 80-100 Rupees per kilo in Delhi and at about 65 rupees per kilo in
Mumbai. However, in Bangladesh, it is selling at 45 Rupees per kilo thanks to
the export of Indian onions throughfive border export centresâ€"Mahadipur in
Malda, Petrapol and Gojadanga in North 24-Parganas, Hili in South Dinajpur and
Changrabandha in Cooch Behar in West Bengal. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra,
Prithvi Raj Chavan said that he had asked his Delhi counterpart, Sheila Dixit to
procure onions directly from Nashik so that it could sell for 50 rupees in
Delhi. He has completely forgotten what is happening in Mumbai. Similarly Govt.
of India is mulling option to import onions from abroad while its above five
named export centres are busy exporting onions to Bangladesh! What a tragedy.
According to Times of India, asimple comparison between a claimed dip in
production and the evident rise in price will be enough to show how people have
been taken for a ride. No arithmetic or economics or plain bazaar logic can
explain this. This sort of a runaway price rise can only be attributed to
rampant profiteering that the government has not been able to check; in all
probability, it has been encouraged by politicians who control the trade.(This
material is based on what has appeared in the Times of India.)As a Management
Fraternity, we can come out with some solutions to arrest the situation……â
