Role : DB2 LUW DBA

Location : Reston, VA

Duration : 8-12 months.

Job description :

·         We are looking for a strong DB2 LUW DBA with data warehouse experience

·         Senior-level DBA to support DB2 database servers (non production) UDB-distributed and not mainframe.

·         Perform daily monitoring of 2 DB2 databases

·         Support DB2 build and other things specific to DB2

·         Perform in-depth troubleshooting, and develop action plans to correct system errors

·         Configure backups as necessary

·         Check and validate backups for disaster recovery

·         Monitor performance of databases, servers, and tune as necessary

·         Monitor data loads, and tune as necessary

·         Ability to maintain documentation of changes and modifications

·         Analyze and recommend changes, to improve performance

·         Back up other team members as required

·         Provide support for application developers as needed

·         Support multiple projects

·         Red hat Linux environment for these. Data warehouse is AIX

·         Highly desired: Experience with DB2 data warehouse

·         Highly desired: DBA experience in other platforms (Oracle or Sybase)

Requirements:

·         5+ years of work experience in a large highly transactional environment (banking, credit card, wall street firm, etc)

·         Good oral and written communication skills
