Re: [MTC Global] [Big Debate] Is skill gap is an universal phenomenon or more...

The gap between knowledge & skills is very much entrenched in the Indian educational system (other countries, like UK and their former colonies suffer also from it), and the mindset & attitudes of the average Indian is completely outdated: a lower clerk who spends his/her worktime by carrying around dusty files will contemptuously look down upon a mechanic who is doing most demanding and sophisticated work! Presently, I am implementing a model "Dual System of Professional Training", modified to Indian conditions from the very successful German system - this will enhance employment opportunities as it exposes students to the real work-life, thus providing a standardised high level of quality knowledge & skills and subsequently high performance.
It is mainly the teachers who don't understand (or won't) the requirements of enterprises for their workforce as they have no experiences whatsoever of real work-places and, what makes matters worse, they are just not interested, they are extremely change-resistent!
