I would like to clarify on the issue of Freudian theory and corruption. I agree with corruption is a complex affair. But it is beyond Id impulses. Id is more of an unconscious in nature and expressed behaviour of the energy may come out in a spur of moment. But corruption is more to do with conscious choice. the corrupt official is aware of choice to ask money or gift and consciously change or manipulate the work in favour of the party. in this aspect, he may have low in Super Ego energy.
Freud's Id, Ego and Super Ego concepts are superficially similar to Eric Bene's Ego state model: Parent, Adult and Child. However, they are not the same. Ego state model is on behavioural observation and has clear distinct in nature and origin. But Id, Ego and Super Ego are inferred concepts.
Corrupt person may have low in distorted/contaminated Parent Ego state.
All these concepts are helpful in understanding people's behaviour in Counseling/Psychotherapy and organisational dynamics, where we do mistakes, avoid or get into conflicts.
But corruption is purely based on one's choice and here 'and now' decisions!

So this will serve as a permanent check on an individual's behaviour or prevent him from going out of control.Super ego is, however, something more sublime than the fear of the organised society and its police force. It is the sublime ethos that we receive from the society through the finer values of an ideal human behaviour. or through higher form of education and scholarship. It tells us that no matter what the need or the temptation might be, thou shall not indulge in any kind of immoral or illicit behaviour regardless of whether the police or the authorities were watching you or not.
