RE: [MTC Global] RE: India a view point

Very balanced view on Incredible India. I agree with Prof. Ramesh Vemuganti. I have also held the views at some other place that "Many of the economic reforms initiated in July 1991 remain unfinished due to political economy constraints. If these reforms in land, labor, capital markets, energy sector, education, civil services, governance, municipalities and corporations are brought to their logical ends, then India would emerge as one of the most favorable destination and a land of immense opportunities for all. India is a miracle waiting to happen. All foreign investors and development partners are welcome to participate in that exciting journey of India's development process over the next two decades.

Dear Colleagues                                                                                 29th November, 2013

I am quite delighted to start sending mails after a gap.

Change the changeable, accept the unchangeable, and remove yourself from the unacceptable. -Denis Waitley
This article is interesting from German perspective, not from Indian"s. Firstly, let us all resolve one thing. No European or South American or African nation must only compare with only one state in India - now with the entire country. In terms of population, homogenity, spread, area, language, culture, infra, Garmany must compare with one of our jewels - say Gujarat or Mahrashtra or Tamilnadu.. If they do not want to do business with India, it is their loss & not ours.
At a time when President Obama is doing his best to appease Indians & nurture a smooth relationship with India, David Cameroon is keen to enter into several tieups with India, Australia is bonding with us on many fronts, plethora of fast growing economies are making a bee line towards India for our brains, skills, knowledge, infrastructure, goods, services, people, heritage, spirituality, yoga, Krishna consciousness, meditative practices, holistic approach - Does one article matter.

We must take pride in the fact that along with China, we are an emerging superpower despite the fact that around 35 crores, almost a third, of our people are BPL..

What India was in 1947 & what it is today, -a saga of spectacular achievements in many fields, a transformation, a sea change?  Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Patel or Netaji would have been aghast & spellbound with the progress India has made. The growth & success story India has scripted is beyond the wildest imagination of these great leaders & leaders across all major economies, including Germany.

Now, we as intellectuals, not merely educated, must think SOLUTIONS for all our problems, with a 360 degree disposition . We need to hit back all such allegations.  Parallely, we need to aply pressure on our planners & economist to make our domestic economy stronger & make it independent.
We shall fight the corrupt, evil minded & selfish politicians & throw them out in next elections.  We will not blame, comment, criticize, compare or paint a poor picture of India, under all circumstances in any forum, meeting, seminar, organization, association,,,,,,,,,anywhere in the Globe.
Let us change, means, what ? Change our Attitude first, then a change in Approach next, followed by Assertiveness & reinforcing our Ambition to make India a a Super power by 2025.,

No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn't trying.

regards

Ramesh Vemuganti

Dear Sir, A truly ugly picture is painted by the western media especially the
European Media. My question is if India is that bad, then why do business with
India? In fact doing business with such a country is to get infected with the
contagion of unethical practices. Such reporting, shades of the " gutter
inspector's report" is cynical in nature. Such reporting is meant for the
consumption of us Indians into reinforcing the familiar stereo types as belonging
to an inferior and decadent civilization. It important to realize that Indian
democracy has yet to find its real soul. I do not think that anywhere on the globe
or in past history has such an experiment been conducted as in our country.
We have to discover what a democracy can do to govern a huge landmass with a
diversity that one will not find anywhere. In the life a civilization, we are yet
to evolve our systems of governance that is responsive to the people and protect
its interests.
Old values from our troubled past are slowly turning useless. There is friction
and even violence and it is true that our leaders are completely clueless. The
British gave us the model of governance that is itself in disrepair ( beyond
repair). Some may even suggest anarchy and the powerlessness of the law
enforcement machinery. There is a silent churning and new elites are forming and
clashing with the old.
It is easy for our elites to turn cynical , for the thinking people it is easy to
despair, but this will not get us anywhere. In the final analysis it boils down to
what we as individuals can do by way of discharging our responsibility and perform
our duties fearlessly and diligently and not caring a damn.

these things happen . It is really a very sad state of affairs that the judiciary
has to remind the Govt quite often that it is the responsibility of the Govt to
exercise good governance.Policy paralysis,
indifference to people's problems, rampant corruption and absolute lack of
accountability of the political system have all contributed to this pathetic
situation. On top of all these things our country is lacking leadership and
credibility.
As a banker and economist I used to respect Dr.Manmohan Singh . Now I have
completely lost all hopes . PM has position but no power ( the power is defused by
players behind the scenes, who are conducting shadow government through remote
control) nor is he able to exercise influence in a positive way. The country is
currently going through a leadership crisis and lack of value systems.
The judiciary has done its job by enforcing NOTA ( people's right to reject the
candicates in election )and banning convicts from contesting in the elections. The
ball is now in people's court. It is not only our fundamental right to vote but
our duty towards the country to elect the right people. When all of us feel this
responsibility and exercise our votes in the right manner, then we can bring a
change in the system and accountability of the Govt to the people. We have to be
hopeful to see the light at the end of the tunnel ,though the tunnel may be too
long and keep working towards it by motivating the people around us.

savaged India's misgovernance.

MOHAN MURTIThe Brussels-based European Commission
Standing Committee on Global Foreign Direct Investments last week listed the top 20
destinations the EU 27 will target for the next five years. Sadly, but for well-
known reasons, India does not figure in the list.Stocks of European Union direct
investments to the rest of the world amounted to €5.6 trillion at the end of 2012
and the EU continues to have a fixation with China. As for India, senior EU
officials noted with quite a bit of scepticism: "India is probably getting there,
but not quite arrived".An editorial in the highly circulated German

national newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine screamed:"India has never had it so
bad. Stealing in government has never been this brazen. Government officials are
now so audacious in their corrupt practices that they do not give a damn about who
is watching"."Supreme Court directives are routinely flouted. Crime rates are up
and security of life including women's safety, which is the first responsibility
of every government, is at its lowest ebb. India must then be more than qualified
to be called a failed state."In the Manager magazine, one of Germany's leading
glossy business journals, an article said: "Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
has a natural inclination to be a follower, not a leader. "DESPAIR AND
HOPELESSNESSThe article states, "India is a country where merit and integrity have
no value and the country continues to sink beneath the suffocating weight of
mediocrity and unrestrained, rampant greed. The majority of citizens feel excluded
and disrespected at all levels of their daily lives. The youth of the country that
make majority of the populace clearly feel helpless and many are pushed to take to
misdemeanour and
crime."FAILURE OF GOVERNANCEDer Spiegel wrotein an edit article recently: "While
the main functions of the parliament are to make laws and hold the executive
accountable through oversight, Indian lawmakers make very few laws, pass
incompetent motions and engage in rampant disruption of the proceedings."The
German business newspaper Handelsblatt wrote: "For India, it seems clear that the
hope of becoming one of the best twenty economies in the world will only remain a
daydream. Corruption is the bane of the society. The Government knows this and the
crusade against corruption is being handled with kid gloves."(The author is former
