Position: The Department of Family Studies and Community Development at Towson University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This is a senior position with responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate teaching, senior level service and sustained scholarship in human service and family science. The position is a ten-month faculty appointment which begins August 21, 2014. The base salary is commensurate with experience.

 

Qualifications: We are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research experience include an emphasis on professional development and work with families who experience complex health conditions. We encourage individuals with a background that includes clinical licensure and practice to apply. Applicants must have a Ph. D. in a human service field, a minimum of five years of successful college teaching and evidence of a productive scholarly program. A candidate must also hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to be appointed at those ranks. Applicants with prior leadership and collaborative interdisciplinary experience in an academic or clinical setting will be given special consideration. All applicants must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and show a strong potential for an ongoing productive scholarly program.

 

Responsibilities: The successful candidate primarily will be responsible for teaching courses in professional development, program development, community engagement and family-professional collaboration. There will be opportunities for developing specialty courses in one's area of expertise. The faculty member will participate in leadership related to innovative teaching, mentoring junior faculty, grant supported initiatives, student advising, program development and university service. Area of research interest is open.
